RORC Annual Dinner & Prize Giving

This Saturday saw our Race Boat Manager, Sam Pearson, attend the Royal Ocean Racing Club’s Annual Dinner and Prize Giving at the Royal Courts of Justice. The Ancasta Group were one of the sponsors for this year’s event which has been hailed as a night to remember by all who attended.

 The RORC Season’s Points Championship Trophies were presented by Olympic gold medallist, America’s Cup Winner and RORC Honorary Life Member, Sir Ben Ainslie. Having already donated a signed rash vest and his time for the silent auction; Sir Ben began the charity fund raiser with an in depth question and answer session which detailed his future, the future of a GBR Americas Cup campaign and how he won the Americas Cup with Team Oracle.

Nick Bonham then began the Main auction which included a crew position on ICAP Leopard, a stay on a private island in Mozambique, holidays and a multitude of highly desirable prizes which raised in excess of over £40,000 for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation. A truly commendable tribute for a most respected and fitting cause which is held very close to the hearts of the entire sailing fraternity. 

Another highly commendable result was Sam Pearson and his team who crew aboard Andrew Pearce’s KER 40 ‘Magnum’ managed to claim no less than five of the trophies awarded!  It was an evening of celebration and great bonhomie which finished with dancing and no doubt many celebrations – especially for those due to jet off on holiday!
