Ker 40s Put in Outstanding Perfomance in Worlds Biggest Yacht Race
The biggest yacht race in the world took place this weekend and in its 81st year, the internationally famous event saw 1,647 boats entered, across 25 classes. While 1,199 boats finished the race, 246 retired, 29 were disqualified or on course side, and it was decided not to start some of the smaller classes due to extremely challenging weather conditions.
Aimed at both professional and amateur sailors, from famous sporting celebrities to families having fun, the Round the Island Race attracts a huge spectating audience from an international arena.
Taking part at the centre of this weekend’s action were the wonderful McConaghy Ker 40’s, who have produced an uninterupted succession of great results all this season so far. In IRC Group 0, Magnum III, Baraka, and Apollo came 2nd, 4th and 5th respectively.
Many congratulations to all three teams, who are a tribute to the McConaghy brand.
