First 30 Wins
Organised by the Yacht Club Val André during the weekend of the Ascension, the ‘3 jours d’Armor” led the fleet from St Quay Portrieux (Normandy) to Jersey. The competitors made it to the Anglo-Normand isle after a long passage, taking more than 7 hours with wind strengths from 12-15 knots, finishing with over 20 knots of breeze on the approach to the island. The FIRST 30 Ogust, owned by Mr Eric Nicolas finished over a quarter of an hour ahead on corrected time, leading a very competitive 28 boat strong fleet. The return to France was all downhill in 10-15 knots of breeze. Ogust finished second on the water for the second leg, but had a substantial lead on corrected time. Mr Nicolas and his crew had already demonstrated the racing potential of the F30 since she was launched at Easter, but were yet to cement it with a result. They have put that to rest now with this first victory of the season. Well done to Ogust and her valiant crew, and good luck for the rest of the season.
