First 35 Wins Warsash Spring Series
In only their second season in the new Beneteau First 35 “STILETTO” the Royal Temple Yacht Club’s stalwart team led by owner John Barrett and helmsman Paul Woodward won Class 3 in the first big regatta of the season in the Solent. The Warsash Spring series which is raced in March and April is the first event of a gruelling round of events that attract 100’s of yachts from professional teams in the industry and keen amateurs from across the UK. The whole event was sailed in very testing light wind conditions and Stiletto achieved the enviable score of three 1st and two 2nds. With these impressive results Stiletto was awarded the Warsash Commodores Cup for the most outstanding boat in the series. The prizes were presented by Mike Golding who is one of Britain’s most accomplished and successful offshore sailors. Stiletto are particularly lucky to have the support of North Sails and Ancasta International Boat sales who keep the yacht in good fettle whenever the crew return to Ramsgate between races. Stiletto has a very busy season on the South Coast. Last weekend winning her class in The Royal Southern Yacht Club’s May Regatta. They have another RSYC regatta in June followed by IRC National Championships in Cowes before returning to Ramsgate for the for the Royal Temple Yacht Club’s annual Ramsgate Week Sailing Regatta (25-30 July) attracting entries from the UK, France, Belgium and Holland.
