Atlantic Rally for Cruisers 2010
Atlantic Rally for Cruisers 2010 Every year many Ancasta customers take part in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers and often Ancasta staff can be seen on the ground in Gran Canaria helping to get these intrepid yachtsmen and women across the Atlantic. The annual transatlantic rally starting each November in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, has now become the most popular way to cross the Atlantic. The largest transocean sailing event in the world, every year the ARC brings together over 200 yachts from all over the world. The Caribbean destination is Rodney Bay in St.Lucia, one of the most beautiful islands in the Lesser Antilles. The 2700 nautical mile passage on the NE tradewind route takes on average between 14 and 21 days. Ancasta Support the Rainbow Centre During this year’s ARC This year we are proud to be supporting the Rainbow Centre. Alex Legge is taking time out from managing the Ancasta Mercury Office to join the crew of “White Whisper”, a Beneteau Oceanis 46, owned by Jonathan Penny, a long standing Ancasta customer. Alex and the rest of the crew have decided to do the event in support of this very worthy cause. Alex has a very personal interest in The Rainbow Centre as Alex’s stepson Dylan has attended there for the last 8 years. Dylan is severely disabled with athetoid quadreplegic cerebral palsy. The Rainbow Centre has made an enormous difference to Dylans life and has helped him to really develop physically and cognitively. Follow “White Whisper” Alex and the rest of the crew aboard “White Whisper” will be maintaining a Blog during their trip, as well as carrying tracking software to allow you to follow their progress across the Atlantic.
