  • Name Bob

"Bob" originally known as the iconic "Bear of Britain" was built in 2001 by Carroll Marine in the USA and brought to England for its final fit out at renowned builders Ovington Boats.
During her later years, "BOB" has gone through an extensive optimisation process to bring her in line with modern thinking, such as square top mainsails and fixed, longer bowsprits for flying a full Asymmetric downwind sail inventory.

Over the past 3 years, she has again benefited from extensive upgrades, with a focus on offshore safety and she now has two, watertight bulkheads fore and aft, as well as escape hatches, to allow for CAT 0 compliance and serious ocean racing!
The boat has been used under charter for the past few years and is MCA coded and so now poses both a business opportunity, but also a huge amount of bang for your buck and will for sure still have her day against the newer machines out there, particularly in the lighter air conditions!

The boat currently needs work in order to make her sail-able again and so experienced campaigners are most suited here.

The hull is built from Carbon fibre and epoxy with wet pre-preg layup, post cured low density "super light" balsa in high load areas.
Corecell foam in various densities throughout the remaining areas. Composite keel SG iron and lead with an epoxy coating and faired to a race finish.
Internal Aluminium structural frame for rig/keel loads
Deck and top sides painted with linear polyurethane paint in owners colours.
Bottom faired and primed in barrier coat epoxy.
