OverviewVirgin Atlantic Challenger II - Designed by Sonny Levi and Peter Birkett, and built in Lowestoft Boatyard, VAC II was built in 1985 to break the transatlantic record after an unsuccessful attempt by VAC 1. Powered by twin MTU V12 2000hp turbo charged diesel engines driving 980mm surface-piercing props, she can hit a top speed of circa 50 knots. Having now been painstakingly restored to her former glory, VAC II offers a unique opportunity to secure part of Britain's maritime heritage.
