New McConaghy Panther Series Review

Q&A with our McConaghy Brand Manager

McConaghy Multihulls recently launched the Panther Series, a new line of lightweight electric yachts designed for those seeking speed, sustainability, and luxury on the water while embracing more environmentally friendly production methods. The first models in this new futuristic range are the McConaghy Panther 48 and the McConaghy Panther 56.

To learn more, we asked Ancasta’s McConaghy Multihulls Brand Manager, Hannah Le Prevost, some quick-fire questions about why this new line of eco-focused catamarans is shaking up the performance cruising multihull market.

Q. What makes the McConaghy Panther Series different from traditional cruising multihulls?

A. The Panther Series combines high-performance sailing with electric propulsion and carbon fibre construction, offering speed, efficiency, and sustainability without compromising luxury.

Q. How fast can McConaghy Panther yachts go?

A. Designed for sailors who love fast cruising, McConaghy Panther multihulls can comfortably achieve sailing speeds of 20+ knots. Their lightweight carbon build and optimised hull shape ensure exhilarating performance and smooth passages.

Q. Are the McConaghy Panther Multihulls fully electric?

A. Yes. Every Panther multihull is equipped with green propulsion electric drives, offering silent, zero-emission cruising with minimal environmental footprint. For extended voyages, hybrid options are also available, providing greater range and versatility while maintaining sustainability.

Q. How is power generated onboard?

A. While sailing, Panther multihulls regenerate between 1.6 – 2 kW of clean energy through hydrogeneration, and they can also produce surplus power while at anchor. For complete peace of mind, a discreet backup generator ensures uninterrupted comfort and reliability.

Q. Can McConaghy Panther multihulls be sailed short-handed?

Absolutely. The intelligent deck layout and intuitive onboard systems make short-handed sailing effortless. With everything designed for ease of handling, taking the helm solo or cruising as a couple feels natural, leaving more time to enjoy your time on the water.

Q. What materials are used in the construction?

A. The yachts are built using advanced carbon fibre composites, reducing weight, increasing strength, and improving overall performance and efficiency.

Panther 48Q. What are the environmental benefits of the Panther Series?

A. They offer zero-emissions sailing, reduced noise pollution, lower fuel dependency (with electric/hybrid systems), and a lower environmental footprint compared to traditional yachts.

Q. Is there any compromise on comfort or luxury?

A. Not at all. Quite the opposite. The McConaghy Panther Series is designed to deliver luxury and comfort, with elegant interiors, high-end finishes, and amenities designed for relaxation and entertainment.

Q. Are these yachts simple to maintain?

A. Yes! Innovative systems ensure upkeep is straightforward resulting in less time spent in the boatyard and more time enjoying being on the water.

Q. Who is the McConaghy Panther Series best suited to?

A. This new range from McConaghy is ideal for eco-conscious sailors who value performance, technology, and sustainable innovation without sacrificing comfort or style.
