OverviewThe VO70 "Telefonica Black" is for sale and not only offers an opportunity to purchase one of the most exciting offshore class of yachts ever built, but there is also a ready-made, profit making, charter business to accompany the sale.
Fully coded with many bookings already penciled in for 2023, she is a proven ocean yacht that will offer the next owner a wealth of opportunities.
All major hardware up to date with her "big 5-year check" completed in June 2021, including extensive NDT testing of hull, mast and keel.
A truly exciting yacht, available immediately to start her next journey.
Telefonica Black was built for the telecommunication company for the 2008 Volvo Ocean Race at a project cost of 10 million euros.
Designed by Farr and built by Southern Ocean Shipyard in full carbon/nomex construction, she competed in the 08/09 Volvo Ocean Race.
The current owners took over running Telefonica in 2019 and operated her as a charter boat, updating all the necessary systems and safety kit.
The charter business has successfully delivered offshore racing, ocean passages, experience days and weekends to Corinthian sailors in the UK, Med and Caribbean.
In 2022 the boat won IRC SuperZero in the RORC season, having competed with only 4 professional crew and the rest made up with paying guests.
Telefonica is coded to Cat Zero and carries all the safety equipment in accordance with MGN280 and "Blue Code"(Unlimited).
Her cat zero coding is up for annual renewal on 1/6/2023. She is coded for 15 pax under MCA and 21 pax under IR.
Telefonica had her 5 yearly survey on the 1/6/2021
For this survey her mast was removed, and NDT tested
The rigging was removed and sent to future fibres in Valencia and any defects were replaced
The keel was checked and tested.
As well as a rigorous out of water and in water survey.
The only out standing component on her maintenance schedule is a new forestay and running backstays – not due to damage just planned maintenance schedule.
These have been ordered and 50% paid for through future fibres.
