Overview

TestaCuore is a Cookson 50 that needs no introduction. A top level racer on the ORC and IRC scene in the Med for many years and without question one of the finest and most optimized Cookson's we have ever seen.
Keel, bulb, rig, hydraulics, standing rigging, electronics and cosmetics all updated in recent times and ensures a very special package will be handed over to the new owners.

TESTACUORE is a Cookson 50 designed by Farr Yacht Design, built and marketed by Cookson Boats NZL.
She is built in carbon with a canting keel which makes her extremely fast, strong and easy to sail; the perfect IRC-ORC offshore racer..
Continually upgraded from new, following all new modern performance and sail handling trends, this is a boat that performs well ahead of her years and the Cookson 50 still remains one of the Worlds most successful offshore yacht designs.


Hull Construction;
Hull is constructed in a female mould.
Construction is Carbon Fibre with Closed Cell Foam Core.
Laminates are infused with epoxy resin, consolidated under vacuum and heat cured.

Internal Structure;
Bulkheads, structural frames and longitudinal's are constructed from
Carbon/E-glass laminates with closed cell foam core..
Reinforced in high load areas with carbon laminates.

Deck Construction;
Deck is constructed in female mould.
Construction is Carbon Fibre with Closed Cell Foam Core.
End Grain Balsa Core is used in areas of high compression load.
Resin infused with epoxy.

Fabricated Steel Keel Fin bonded in to fibreglass mouldings.
Lead bulb.
Rudder and rudder stock are constructed of Carbon Fibre.
Rudder bearings are self aligning.
Forward canard and canard case are carbon composite.
The Cookson 50 incorporates a proven and reliable canting keel system with a single forward canard providing incredible reaching and running speed and great upwind performance.

Notable upgrades/updates:
- Cosmetic paint updates in 2019
- Canting keel system upgraded with a titanium ram in 2017, to offer increased canting angles. Now up to 40 degrees.
- Keel fin renewed in 2022 increasing overall draft by 500mm.
- Bulb weight reduction at the same time. -300kg,
- Bowsprit lengthened by 250mm in 2019.
- New high modulus mast installed 2014, taller than original specification (+1.3m)

The interior has been modified to allow for better sailing handling/storage by cutting away the original kitchen positioned in the center of the boat and replaced by a smaller one on the stb side.
