Overview

Stark Raving Mad is a Carkeek 47, built in carbon by Premier Composites in 2013. These C47's have achieved a lot across the rating rules and offers high speed, high spec, exciting sailing, whilst always being at the sharp end of the results.
An ability both inshore and offshore, this boat is a exciting all-rounder that has benefitted from huge investment in the last 3 years and offers some quite exceptional value for money.
No longer raced by the owner, she is ready for a new home and would hit the ground running.

The Carkeek 47 “Stark Raving Mad IX” (“SRM IX”) is one of three Carkeek 47s built. Another notable Carkeek 47 is “Black Pearl.”

Built by Premier Composite Technologies in 2013 from carbon/foam, she is also fitted with a lifting keel arrangement, allowing access to shallow harbour's.
Weight reduction in the bulb is now circa 500kg since original launch and development of the sail plan has now ensured the boat has found her best modes.

Purchased by her current owner in 2021, SRM IX was completely upgraded and refinished.
2nd Generation mast and rigging.

Full respray in 2021.

Major projects include: all new exterior coatings, bottom and appendage refinish, new running rigging, new mainsheet and traveler system, as well as a full new sail wardrobe.

Spars & Rigging


SRM is fitted with a custom, carbon 3-speader mast and a carbon boom with reef capability. The mast package was new in 2018 from Southern Spars.
A fixed carbon bowsprit with twin tacking points, incorporating a 2:1 system is also present.

The mast incorporates locking halyard systems and has a deflector system installed for better forestay control.
SRM is fitted with EC6 standing rigging throughout, with running backstays on a 4:1 purchase.

A full RACE running rigging package is supplied with the boat, along with assorted older spares.

Sail Inventory


A full new Doyle Sails inventory was added to the boat in 2021 and further developed from there.
