Ancasta Yacht Club Rally to Cherbourg 2023
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the Ancasta Yacht Club Rally to Cherbourg last weekend!
The sun shone brightly on Saturday morning as the nine-strong fleet set sail across the English Channel to Cherbourg. With a north-easterly breeze, everyone enjoyed cruising downwind, even with some tricky sail handling and a few queasy moments thrown in for good measure! On arrival in France, the crews celebrated their achievements with some well-deserved Pimm’s on the dock.
The next day we stayed in Cherbourg and took the opportunity to relax and explore the local area before meeting up for a sociable dinner in the evening. Everyone tucked into delicious French cuisine and shared stories of their previous day’s adventures well into the evening.
On Monday, it was time to bid farewell to Cherbourg and head back to the UK. The return journey wasn’t without its challenges, though. Strong northerly winds and a big wind-over-tide sea state tested the crews’ skills. But with our amazing lead skipper, Tim, guiding each yacht every step of the way, everyone embraced the adventure and conquered the rough conditions with enthusiasm.
Once again, a huge thanks to all who made this rally unforgettable. Until our next nautical escapade!
