AC40 SIMULATOR AT METSTRADE
Representing McConaghy Boats and Emirates Team New Zealand, Ancasta Race Boats hosted the AC40 simulator at Metstrade in September.
Located in the new Foiling Pavillion, it was a highlight of the show. Hundreds of people tried out the simulator over the three-day event, with the DutchSail Womens Americas Cup Team setting the fastest time.
The AC40 cockpit replicas built by McConaghy Boats, incorporate seats, dashboards wheels, and controls identical to the real thing. The technology and hardware are incredibly realistic, giving sailors an authentic experience and a true feel for life in fast lane.
Not only is this a great training platform for the current AC race teams, allowing sailors to perfect their AC40 sailing skills before they get on the water, but it is also an incredible opportunity for AC40 owners and potential owners to get a true idea of what getting behind the wheel of a superfast AC40 will feel like from the comfort of your office.
To prepare for these events, all the teams devoted significant time to familiarising themselves with the boats’ controls, undergoing rigorous training sessions in the AC40 Simulators which are available to buy now, allowing teams to hone their abilities to maximise their performance on the water. The combination of high-speed foiling and the crews’ expertise creates exhilarating and closely contested races.
