OverviewThis IRC racer/cruiser is the brainchild of Marc Lombard, arguably the top French offshore designer of recent years.
A passionate English owner brought the concept into a reality in 2016 and this go-anywhere, IRC optimized all-rounder has never failed to deliver on the race track, or when gently cruising with the family.
Exceptional form stability and forward volume allow this boat to be pushed harder than similar sized race boats and with a cockpit layout designed for shorter-handed sailing, you don't need a small army to extract maximum performance.

"PATA NEGRA" is a Marc Lombard IRC 46 design, that was a custom build specifically for the owners requirements.

The keel is made of cast lead with a steel fabricated head to bolt the assembly to the hull bottom.
An epoxy fairing is applied over the keel to refine the shape using reference templates.
The total weight is approximately 3600kg (3400kg of cast lead).in a single straight fin with no bulb.
The twin rudders are built in composite in a female mould (machined 3D wooden plug).
The rudder stocks are built in stainless steel HR F16PH grade, double tapered.
The bearing are self aligned type..
Steering linked to a Jaffa car and adjustable rudder bars for tuning the toe of the rudders when racing.
Rudder stocks arms and connection bar are in aluminium.
One spare rudder blade.
Engine serviced annually since new.
Running rigging replaced when required - some new halyards in 2020.
Hull is faired and anti fouled every season, sometimes twice annually.

"Pata Negra" is fitted with a 2-spreader carbon mast and carbon boom from Axxon.
She has a deck stepped configuration for maintaining full hull integrity offshore.

The mast is equipped with two pairs of spreaders and a Harken type aluminium mast track with cars.
The rigging is stainless steel rod Nitronic 50 for laterals only.
The fore stay is setup to take jib hanks.
Removable inner composite fore stay, with hydraulic ram located in anchor locker.
The back stay is composite (Vectran / Dyneema type)
The bowsprit (new in 2018) is built in carbon fibre + epoxy resin single skin laminate.
The bowsprit is easily dis-mountable with 4 bolts to take off.
Total length is 2m, and weight is approximately 10 kg.
A full set of running rigging is supplied with the boat, as well as a various, older spares.
Reef lines, 2 mast head spinnaker halyards, fractional halyard and both tack lines all replaced Feb 2020.
All sheets and halyards are Marlow Grand Prix line with polyester technora blend cover.
The rig maintenance has been managed by All spars rigging in the UK since 2017.
Each season the rig has been unstepped and inspected.
Most recently, diagonal shrouds, back stay and all turn buckle terminations were replaced this year.

All Pontos and Harken deck gear serviced regularly as you would imagine with a full time boat captain along with a supply of spares.
Blocks for all control lines and sheets are all of the Harken Black magic aluminium category - all new since Feb 2019.
Constrictor clutches on Main, outhaul and Jib halyards, spinlock conventional clutches on everything else. Spares in the boats storage for all.
Below decks "Pata Negra" is a fully equipped cruiser/racer with a focus on a practical and comfortable setup.
This was a serious focus for the owner during the original build and with the large free-board height and raised coach roof design there is standing head room in most areas, with a lot more on offer compared to similarly performing machines.
For weight saving and ease of maintenance, all the composite shells (hull and deck, main bulkheads) are faired with epoxy type light filler and spray gun PU painted for nice finish.
The furniture is mainly built using plywood panels (8, 10 -12mm), marine grade.
All of the sole boards are Foam sandwich bi-axial fiberglass with a 2 mm laminate of wood.
Aft cabins :
The 2 guest cabins in the aft part of the hull are well equipped with the following and are symmetrical both sides.

Both aft cabins have single pipe cots installed.
Pata Negra has the ability to sleep 4 on the "high side".
