  • Name Black Dog

There can be no argument that "Black Dog" is at the very top of the 40' class of true racer cruisers, with a very competitive IRC rating of 1.083.

Black Dog is the third J Boat of that name to be campaigned by her highly experienced and successful owner/skipper and crew. Her impressive race record culminated in winning the RORC IRC National Championship in 2019 and again in 2021.

Built in 2007 she had a complete refurbishment in 2017 by her current owner including a new Volvo 40hp engine, new saildrive, new electronics, standing and running rigging and new inventory of North 3Di sails. Since then no expense has been spared on maintenance and her extensive inventory includes £20,000 of as yet unused North sails for 2020.

If there is a compromise in sailing the J 122 is it: she is one of the very few boats that can offer genuinely competitive racing both inshore and offshore and yet this thoroughbred yacht can also be cruised with the family allowing for fast, safe and easy passage making.
