Overview"D'Arsea" Jeanneau NC14 (2015 model).
Following up on the success of the NC9 and NC11, Jeanneau introduced the flagship NC14. The mission of this 45' boat as described by the builder is to be an "apartment on the water with terrace and sea view." Many of the innovations that we saw in the NC9 and NC11 are employed once again in this larger boat.
Hull Design. This boat has an underwater wedge shape which is a bit more exaggerated than usual. The builder tells us that this design enables the boat to have a lower bow rise in a wider range of speed.
The NC14 is sharp and shallow forward, then the bottom shape extends out to have wide, relatively shallow stern sections. The wide stern has the advantage of added buoyancy aft where it is needed to support the Volvo Penta D4 IPS400 diesels, and the shallow V means that the hull will be easier to push. The beam will also add stability and helps keep the draft to just 3ft 5.
"Plumb Bow". Plumb bows have been in fashion lately in large motor yachts and some cruising boats and specialty boats like the Wally series. Because of it the hull length is essentially the same as the waterline length (LWL). With this design, there is no wasted space inside the boat due to long overhangs at the bow and stern. This design saves weight in addition to being distinctive.

Access via the four-panel glass sliding doors aft which can be stacked to port or starboard to suit the mood.
Once in the saloon you realise how extensive the space availability is, thanks to the asymmetric deck layout which favors a large deck to starboard, that can be directly accessed from the helm station side door.
The saloon table located on the starboard side is extremely versatile with an aft bench seat which can be used forward-facing or aft-facing if alfresco lounging is desired.
The table also features fold-out leaves and discreetly stowed stools to allow more guests to dine around the table.
Adjacent to the seating are several storage lockers that are easily accessed and a compartment that houses the Fusion stereo head unit, breakers, and monitoring system.
A very nice feature of this roomy saloon is the flexible bistro dining area situation port side forward.
This elevated area provides a commanding view of the water and can be utilised in a number of ways.
Whether it be for a morning coffee, an additional seating area when cruising, pre-dinner drinks when more protection is required or it can even convert into a double berth or a chaise lounge type seating area, the choice is yours.
The linear galley is situated to port complete with fridge, sink, oven and twin burners but what is not immediately obvious is the two huge storage compartments which are accessed via hatches in the saloon floor which can swallow vast amounts of equipment or stores.
The helm station is a sociable and practical arrangement with bench seating complete with two-stage bolster and easy access onto deck thanks to the valuable side access door.
From the helm station, you are afforded to command 360-degree views with very few obstructions and excellent visibility.
The electrical sliding roof can also be controlled from here to generate an open-air experience, delivering the best of both worlds from a hard roof coupe design concept.
Located forward in the bow, this large cabin has a centre island 2m double berth which is bathed in light thanks to the generous rectangle portholes.
This cabin has direct access via a Jack and Jill door to the heads compartment on the port side, on the starboard is a desk/dresser unit and access to the generous walk-in wardrobe through the door, not forgetting ample hanging space also offered inside the master cabin.
Situated on the starboard side this airy cabin is configurable as either a large double or twin layout thanks to a removable insert.
Plenty of hanging wardrobe space is also accommodated in the guest cabin.
Accessible directly from the master cabin or from the lower lobby area this compartment has a spacious separate shower area with a screen, freshwater electronically operated heads, opening porthole, sink and mirror fronted vanity units.
