Overview

This FB35 is an incredibly fun and fast boat to sail, that has been seriously prepared for offshore racing, along with her natural inshore capability.
Weapon of Choice is a full pre-preg carbon boat and optimized for IRC and ORCi, with many grand prix bells and whistles when it comes to hardware.

She's a fantastic all rounder, but really excites off the breeze and would suit someone looking for fast sailing, on a modern platform.

Build


Details and Inventory
10.65m High performance pre-preg carbon grand prix style racing yacht.
Hull
• FB35 designed by Fred Barret Yacht Design and built by Van Munster Boats in 2016 in Morisset on Lake / Lake Macquarie.
• Full pre-preg carbon skins over foam core.
• Antifouled over epoxy primer below the water line.
• Built to ISO Category A – comes with ISO and Stability documentation.
• Category 2 safety compliance when life raft carried in cockpit recess (life raft supplied with boat).

Appendages
• Hollow rolled steel fin keel spar with carbon and foam fairings.
• Lead / antimony high lift bulb.
• Fin attached to hull in a wedge and socket arrangement similar to the Open 40 class including 2 x 30mm SAF bolts – very simple to remove and refit for trucking.
• Carbon fibre rudder with Jefa rudder bearings (new May 2021) installed in watertight wet tube built into the hull.

Spars & Rigging


Rigging
• Re rigged in 2018 with a stiffer double spreader NZ Rigging high modulus carbon mast, carbon spreaders, rod rigging working stays (dye tested in 2021) and carbon backstays, spare Aramid back stays, exit points just below hounds for deflectors run to pit winch (currently not in use with 2018 mast set up).
• Mast has external aluminium track to accept mainsail with either “cars” or “bolt rope”.
• Deep Rectangular section carbon boom with locks for 2 x reefs.
• Carbon boom vang with gas strut.
• Mast heel on worm drive for forward and aft tuning, rig tension by Enerpac jack in mast ram and below deck hand pump and shims.
• Mast position at “partners” located with semi rigid “Spar Tite” packing – sealed to deck with “Dek-Tite” rubber collar.

Running Rigging
• 1:1 main halyard (exit below deck), 2 x MH kite halyards, 1 x FRA halyard (exit below deck), 1 x Jib halyard – all on flipper style locks, 1 x GS halyard on a constrictor (hoisted on dynex stay).
• 2.3m long fixed carbon bowsprit (DUX bobstay) with 1 x 1:1 tack line and 1 x 2:1 tack line for furling sails – both on bulls-eye style constrictors.
• Main and FRA halyards exit mast below deck – all other halyards exist mast above deck.
• Jib in haulers purchase system run in below deck “garage”.
• 2 x Pro Furl 2.5t furling drums with furling lines fitted to use primary winches.
• Multiple jib sheets, multiple blended cover kite sheets for durability

Summary :Full inventory of Norths 3DI endurance working sails including square top Mainsail mounted on cars (2 reef), J1.5, J2.5, J4 – all 9/10th’s life left or better. Norths laminate Helix MH0 , BR0, GS(RAW), A1, A2, A3, A4 and A6 (never used) plus a Quantum FR0 and Spinnaker Staysail – all truly in excellent condition, some sails never been hoisted yet – all 9/10th’s life left or better.
